How to Make the Computer Recognize the Flashdisk Inserted on it

I need to finish a word document for an urgent submission. My boss is asking all of us to render overtime because of too many deadlines that we have to meet until the end of this month. I decided to bring home some of the documents I have to encode. Unfortunately, I discovered that my computer was not recognizing the flashdisk I am putting on it. why is my usb port not working? I tried inserting my flashdisk to my son’s laptop and it worked. I cannot afford to have this problem now. I have to fix this before it gets late. I cannot borrow my son’s laptop because he is also working on a school project, which he is required to submit tomorrow morning. I already browsed the internet to know how to deal with this setback but it seems like all of the pointers I have found is not applicable to my concern. I will call my friend, who is skilled in troubleshooting computer gadgets. I hope he’ll be able to resolve this hitch or I will hire someone to have this fixed the soonest possible time.
